Lummus Technology confirmed its first commercial contract for superabsorbent polymer (SAP) technology with SHCCIG Yulin Chemical, licensing its newly integrated SAP process for a 40 ktpa production unit at the Yulin complex.

Jun 24, 2025 -- LyondellBasell Packages Four Polyolefin Licenses

On June 24, 2025, LyondellBasell announced that SHCCIG Yulin licensed its comprehensive polyolefin technology suite for two 400 ktpa polypropylene plants as well as for a 300 ktpa HDPE plant and a 300 ktpa vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) plant. The license package comprises:

• Spheripol and Spherizone polypropylene processes, delivering differentiated PP grades with enhanced operational efficiency.

• Hostalen ACP for high-performance multi-modal HDPE resins, balancing stiffness, toughness, and processability.

• Lupotech T for LDPE/EVA copolymers, optimized for energy efficiency and high plant availability.

Strategic Impact and Next Steps
With SAP, polypropylene, polyethylene, and EVA processes secured, SHCCIG Yulin’s complex is poised to deliver more than 2 million tonnes per annum of advanced polymer products, strengthening China’s downstream coal‐to‐chemical value chain.

Rotterdam, January 28, 2025 – LyondellBasell (LYB), the world's largest licensor of polyolefin technologies, today announced that Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) has selected its Hostalen Advanced Cascade Process (Hostalen ACP) technology for a new 500 kiloton per year (kta) high-density polyethylene (HDPE) facility in Paradip, India.

The new HDPE plant will be integrated into IOCL's Paradip complex, one of India's largest integrated refinery-petrochemical complexes. Located on the eastern coast of India in the state of Odisha, the Paradip facility plays a strategic role in serving the growing polymer market in the Indian subcontinent. The complex, which includes a 15 million tonnes per year refinery, will benefit from the addition of this state-of-the-art HDPE unit to its existing petrochemical operations.
