Fawley Petrochemical Complex (Southampton, Hampshire) — Europe's largest integrated oil refinery and petrochemical manufacturing site, covering 3,250 acres and producing over 850,000 tonnes of petrochemical products annually. The facility processes 270,000 barrels of crude oil per day, representing 20% of UK refining capacity, and manufactures fuels, lubricants, and specialty chemicals for pharmaceutical, medical equipment, cosmetics, automotive, and textile industries.​

Fife Ethylene Plant (Mossmorran, Scotland) — An 830,000-tonne-per-year ethylene cracker established in 1985 that supplies approximately half its output to UK petrochemical producers via the national ethylene pipeline. This facility is scheduled to close in February 2026.​

Downstream Distribution Network — A 700-km pipeline network supplying fuel to distribution terminals and airports; five fuel distribution terminals; and the Fawley Marine Terminal—Europe's longest privately owned jetty at 1.5km, handling approximately 2,000 shipping movements annually.​

Historical Context

The UK operations trace their lineage to 1888 when the first foreign affiliate of Standard Oil established operations in London. The current entity was incorporated on 21 December 1965 as Esso Chemical Limited and rebranded as ExxonMobil Chemical Limited on 1 November 2000.
