Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) is Africa's largest industrial conglomerate, headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, and wholly controlled by Aliko Dangote, consistently ranked as the wealthiest individual on the African continent. The Group's corporate strategy has evolved continuously across four decades of growth, diversification, and regional expansion.

Founded in the 1970s as a bulk commodity trading concern operating within Nigeria's then-liberalised import regime, DIL progressively repositioned itself through successive strategic phases: a pivot to manufacturing for import substitution in the late 1990s; strategic asset acquisition aligned with the Federal Government of Nigeria's privatisation programme in the early 2000s; and a decade-long emphasis on expansion and backward integration that culminated in the commissioning of the world's largest single-train crude oil refinery, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos.

Today, DIL operates across cement, sugar refining, fertilisers, petrochemicals, packaging, and energy, with a growing footprint across sub-Saharan Africa. Its flagship asset — Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, a wholly owned operating subsidiary — reached full nameplate capacity of 650,000 barrels per day in early 2026 and is the subject of a landmark pan-African IPO targeting a September 2026 listing across multiple African stock exchanges, at a valuation of up to $40–50 billion. DIL retains a 92.75% controlling stake in the refinery, with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) holding the remaining 7.25%.
