Description

Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte. Ltd. is a private limited company established as a joint venture between Indonesia’s leading petrochemical producer, Chandra Asri, and global commodities trader Glencore.

Aster Chemicals and Energy was formed to consolidate and expand its presence in Southeast Asia’s petrochemical and energy sectors. The company has rapidly grown its portfolio by acquiring major assets in Singapore, including the purchase of Shell’s refining and chemical operations on Bukom Island and the acquisition of Chevron Phillips Singapore Chemicals (CPSC), which operates a 400,000 tons/year high-density polyethylene (HDPE) facility on Jurong Island.

The shareholding structure of Aster Chemicals and Energy reflects its joint venture origins. It is owned by CAPGC, an 80:20 partnership between Chandra Asri and Glencore, making Chandra Asri the majority shareholder with 80% and Glencore holding the remaining 20%. This ownership structure positions Aster as a significant regional player, leveraging Chandra Asri’s integrated petrochemical assets and Glencore’s global trading expertise.
