Description

Chemical treating processes in a refinery are liquid-phase finishing operations in which undesirable impurities—primarily mercaptans, hydrogen sulfide, and other acidic or corrosive sulfur compounds—are removed from liquid hydrocarbon products (LPG, naphtha, kerosene, jet fuel, diesel) through contact with reactive chemical agents such as caustic solutions.
