Description

In a Continuous Flow Process of manufacturing Organic Isocyanates from Organic Primary Amines and Phosgene, the step which comprises passing an Inert Organic Solvent Solution of the Amine into an Inert Organic Solvent Solution of Phosgene under superatmospheric pressure and under conditions of turbulent flow while maintaining the temperature above that at which the Carbamyl Chloride of the particular Amine employed is decomposed and within the range of from 90°C to 180°C, the amount of Phosgene employed being at least 1.25 mol per NH2 Group on the Amine, the Organic Amine being one which contains no other group than -NH2 which is reactive with Phosgene.
