Description

Formosa Plastics Corporation operates a major petrochemical production facility at Linyuan (also spelled Lin-Yuan) in Kaohsiung's industrial complex, producing PVC, polypropylene, and other polyolefins.

Production Capacity

Polypropylene:
484,000 tons/year capacity following a debottleneck project completed in the first half of 2022 that added 10,000 tons/year to the previous 474,000 tons/year capacity​.
As per FPC Polypropylene brochure (Mar 2024): The total annual capacity is 474KT of Polypropylene by using slurry and gas phase processes in the Lin-Yuan Plant, Slury process mainly produces low MFI for thermoforming grade, high flow and low odor injection grade, high crystalline grades with high temperature resistance for home appliances, medical application and BOPP film grade for food package, while gas phase process mainly produces PPR and PPB pipe grade, high flow and high impact copolymer, and high processing speed, high transparent BOPP grade.

PVC Production:
Part of FPC's integrated Taiwan PVC operations, with debottleneck projects at Linyuan (along with Renwu and Mailiao sites) adding 100,000 tons/year combined capacity targeting 1.415 million tons/year total Taiwan PVC production by 2023​

Other Operations:
The site also houses IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) production facilities operated by Formosa Teh Shan Precision Chemical Co., Ltd., a joint venture within the complex​

Location Context

The Linyuan plant is located within the Linyuan Industrial Park (林園工業區), a major petrochemical manufacturing cluster in southern Taiwan that includes facilities from multiple Formosa Plastics Group companies and other chemical producers.
