Formosa Plastics Corporation operates polyolefin and PVC production facilities at the Mailiao Industrial Complex in Yunlin County as part of the integrated Formosa Plastics Group No. 6 Naphtha Cracker Project.

Production Capacity

Polyethylene Plants:

• HDPE: 566,000 tons/year (Taiwan's largest HDPE producer)​
• EVA/LDPE: 240,000 tons/year​
• LLDPE: 264,000 tons/year​
• Total PE capacity: ~1.07 million tons/year

PVC Production:

• PVC resin capacity at Mailiao with ongoing debottleneck projects targeting combined Taiwan capacity (Renwu, Linyuan, Mailiao) of 1.415 million tons/year by 2023​

Other Products:

• Super absorbent polymer (SAP) production at Mailiao site as part of 110,000 tons/year total Taiwan capacity​

Integration Model

The FPC Mailiao site receives ethylene feedstock from Formosa Petrochemical Corporation's three naphtha crackers (combined 2.935 million tons/year ethylene capacity) located within the same complex. This vertical integration enables direct pipeline supply of olefins to polymer production units, though the complex produces approximately 3.75 million tons/year of naphtha—insufficient for cracker requirements and necessitating supplementary naphtha imports.​

FPC's Mailiao operations form part of Taiwan's largest privately-developed petrochemical complex, contributing to FPC's position as one of the world's largest PVC producers with global capacity of 3.23 million tons/year.
