Public Joint-Stock Company “Rosneft Oil Company” (Russian name: ПАО «Нефтяная компания «Роснефть») was established by government decree as a state enterprise in 1993, transformed into an open joint-stock company in September 1995, and re-registered as a public joint-stock company (PJSC) under Federal Law 208-ФЗ in May 2014.

Ownership:
– 69.5% of shares held by Rosneftegaz JSC (state-owned).
– BP plc held 19.75% (until 2022 sanctions).
– Qatar Investment Authority holds 18.93% (post-2016 transaction).
– Remaining shares in free float.

Strategic Status:
– Included in Russia’s list of strategic enterprises.
– Controls the entire value chain: exploration, production, refining, transportation, marketing, and sales of oil, gas, and petroleum products.
– Operates across all major Russian hydrocarbon provinces (Western & Eastern Siberia, Volga-Ural, Krasnodar, Arctic shelf, Far East) and in 20+ countries worldwide.

Production & Reserves:
– 2024 hydrocarbon production: 255.9 million t n.e. (184 million t liquids; 87.5 bcm gas).
– Proven and probable 2P reserves: 11.4 billion t n.e. (PRMS).
– Reserve replacement ratio > 100% in 2024.

Refining & Marketing:
– Owns 13 large refineries, 3 petrochemical, 4 gas processing, 3 catalyst plants and a service unit.
– 2024 throughput: 82.6 million t crude.
– Retail network: ~3,000 filling stations in 62 regions, including 82 EV chargers and 35 CNG sites.

Innovation & ESG:
– Scientific-Engineering Complex: 30 institutes, 18.5 thousand specialists, develops proprietary software (17+ modules).
– ESG priorities: carbon footprint reduction, circular economy, water stewardship (> 90% recycled), biodiversity programs (37 million tree seedlings since 2021).
– 2024 “green” investments: ₽74 billion; total since 2021: ₽200 billion.
