Nov 2016 -- Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Company Polyolefin Units Introduction

The polyethylene unit was originally designed with a capacity of 800,000 tons/year. During the 2013 major maintenance, the unit underwent partial adaptive modifications, and under super-condensing conditions, the unit's nominal capacity is 900,000 tons/year. 

  • One production line produces Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) products with a product density range of 915-935 kg/m³.
  • The other production line produces Linear Low-Density and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) products with a product density range of 915-965 kg/m³.
  • Both production lines are designed for 8,000 hours of annual operation. The unit uses Univation Company's UNIPOL gas-phase polyethylene process.

Process details

  • Ethylene serves as the main raw material, with butene-1 and hexene-1 as comonomers.
  • Originally designed to produce titanium-based slurry full-density and chromium-based high-density polyethylene products (2 major categories).
  • After adaptation, all production switched to titanium-based slurry catalyst products.
