Quantafuel’s first commercial production facility is located in Skive, Denmark. The chemical recycling plant is the first of its kind in the world and is a major milestone for the company. The factory is presently scaled to process 20,000 tonnes of mixed plastic waste per year. The plastic feedstock, primarily household waste from Denmark & Norway, would otherwise be incinerated or disposed of in landfills. Quantafuel plans to start up a pyrolysis and purification plant with a nameplate capacity of approximately 16,000 tons per year in Skive, Denmark in the fourth quarter of 2019 (Source: https://www.basf.com/global/en/media/news-releases/2019/10/p-19-356.html). All liquid products manufactured in Skive will be shipped to BASF, who will upgrade the recycled material to new plastic products and chemicals, creating a circular economy for plastic waste.
