Technology Unit
- Phosgene Absorption Column
- Generic Phosgene Process
- Short Name
- Absorption Column
- Description
- The uncondensed Material coming form the Condenser is Solvent-scrubbed to remove the remaining Phosgene (although for subsequent "in-line" operations, uncondensed gaseous Phosgene can be employed). Where the Phosgene is scrubbed with Solvent, the resulting Solution can be used in the subsequent Process. Alternatively, uncondensed COCI2 may be passed into Activated Charcoal Adsorbers; preferential Adsorption of Phosgene occurs and the inerts pass to the Destruction System. Finally, the Product Gases remaining after Condensation and Absorption are scrubbed to destroy any remaining Phosgene.
