As its name implies, the PET Refine Technology plant in Ogimachi specializes in PET bottles. Opened in 2008 under major packaging and PET bottle maker Toyo Seikan, it makes 23,000 tons of polyester resin annually by processing 27,500 tons of used PET bottles, mostly from the Kanto region centering on Tokyo (Tim Hornyak, 10 Jun 2017, Plastic fantastic: How does Tokyo recycle its waste?, the japantimes) .

A PET Recycling Company, JEPLAN INC. acquired PET Refine Technology, that formerly acquired PET Rebirth Co.:

  • PET Rebirth Co., a recycler based in Kawasaki, only managed to obtain 10 percent of its target for used bottles and has applied for court protection under the Civil Rehabilitation Law after its business soured (31 Dec 2005, Recyclers ailing as used PET bottles are sold abroad, Japan Times).
  • JEPLAN, Inc. (“the Company.” Location: Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. CEO: Masaki Takao) is pleased to announce that it has concluded an agreement to acquire all the shares of Pet Refine Technology Co., Ltd. (“PRT”), from Toyo Seikan Co., Ltd. (“Toyo Seikan”).
