The Braskem Neal production facility is located at 200 Big Sandy River Road in Kenova, West Virginia, situated along the Big Sandy River on a 100-acre site. This facility represents one of Braskem's key polypropylene manufacturing operations in the United States and holds significant historical importance in the U.S. polymer industry.

The plant was founded in 1961, making it 64 years old as of 2025. Braskem acquired the facility in 2010 through its $350 million purchase of Sunoco Chemicals' polypropylene business. The plant was the first polymer facility in the United States to use Spheripol PP production technology, implemented in 1988 with a $40 million investment. The Neal facility produces 240,000 tonnes per year (529 million pounds annually) of polypropylene homopolymers, with the capacity to manufacture 70 different grades of polypropylene.
