The Karamay site in Dushanzi District represents Dushanzi Petrochemical's flagship integrated refining and petrochemical complex, with current crude oil processing capacity of 10 million tons per year (approximately 202,400 barrels per day). The facility processes predominantly sour crude oil imported from Kazakhstan and produces over 600 products across fuel oil, petrochemicals, aromatics, and polymer categories.
In addition to utilities, it includes a 10Mt/a distillation, a 2Mt/a hydrocracking, a 3Mt/a diesel hydrogenation, a 1.2Mt/a delayed coking, and other six refining units; and a 1Mt/a ethylene, a 900kt/a polyethylene, a 550kt/a polypropylene, and other eight units for chemical production.
Commissioning run tests for the 10Mt/a refining and the 1Mt/a ethylene units commenced on August 28 and September 21, 2009, respectively, both succeeded at the first trial.
