Suncor Energy (U.S.A.) Inc. owns and operates two refinery units at the Commerce City, Colorado site: with a combined crude processing capacity  of  approximately 98,000 barrels per day total:

  1. Commerce City East Refinery
    • Atmospheric crude oil distillation capacity: 67,000 barrels per day (calendar day) / 73,000 bpd (stream day)​
    • Delayed coking capacity: 25,000 bpd​
  2. Commerce City West Refinery
    • Atmospheric crude oil distillation capacity: 36,000 barrels per day (calendar day) / 38,700 bpd (stream day)​
    • Delayed coking capacity: 8,500 bpd​

Operations: The refinery processes sweet and sour crude oils from Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Canada via truck and pipeline. Main products include gasoline, diesel, asphalt, jet fuel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The facility is Colorado's only petroleum refinery and the largest refinery in the Rocky Mountain region.

Operational History: The original refinery commenced operations in 1931. Suncor acquired one refinery from ConocoPhillips in 2003 and a second Commerce City refinery from Valero Energy in 2005. These assets were originally acquired by Suncor Energy Inc. before the 2009 Petro-Canada merger.
