The Jubail plant is BCI’s most advanced and strategically significant chlor-alkali manufacturing facility, located in Jubail Industrial City. Currently, the plant operates at a capacity of 24,000 metric tonnes of chlorine and 27,000 metric tonnes of caustic soda annually, serving over 350 local customers as well as regional markets in Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman. BCI has embarked on a major expansion project at this site, with a contract valued at approximately EUR 15 million awarded to thyssenkrupp nucera to supply state-of-the-art membrane technology and engineering services. Upon completion of the expansion—expected within 19 months—the plant’s capacity will nearly double, reaching 50,000 metric tons of chlorine and 56,000 metric tons of caustic soda per year. This substantial increase will further strengthen BCI’s market position, enabling it to better serve both domestic and export markets with high-quality chlor-alkali products while supporting downstream industries and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 industrial goals.
