The manufacturing site of Fujian Zhongjing Petrochemical Co., Ltd. is a flagship facility for polypropylene (PP) and biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film production and is recognized as one of the largest and most technologically advanced polymer manufacturing complexes in the world.

The polypropylene project adopts polypropylene production technology of Sinopec and LyondellBasell, with two lines, each with a capacity of 500,000 t/y, and two more lines put into production in 2022, each with a capacity of 600,000 t/y, utilizing fifth-generation Spheripol^® process technology. The combined annual PP production capacity at the site is 2.2 million tonnes, making it one of the largest single-plant PP operations globally.

The site’s PP output is primarily used for high-performance applications in packaging, fibers, and engineering plastics, and the company has been expanding its export footprint as China approaches self-sufficiency in PP supply.

The feedstock for the polypropylene plants is high-purity propylene, which is supplied by sister companies within the Fuzhou Zhongjing Petrochemical Group, notably Fuzhou Wanjing Petrochemical and Fujian Meide Petrochemical, both of which operate large-scale propane dehydrogenation (PDH) units in the same industrial park. This integrated supply chain ensures a stable and cost-effective source of raw material for the PP lines.

Beyond PP resin production, the site is also home to the world’s largest BOPP film manufacturing operation, with 18 world-class production lines and an annual output of 900,000 tons of BOPP film. These films are used extensively in food, tobacco, labeling, and commercial packaging, and the company is recognized as a global leader in this sector.

The manufacturing park features advanced infrastructure, including Asia’s largest low-temperature propane storage and handling area, supporting the seamless movement of feedstocks and products throughout the chain.

Fujian Zhongjing Petrochemical’s site is also notable for its commitment to technological innovation and green manufacturing. The facility has been recognized as a national-level green factory by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and it incorporates advanced process control, energy efficiency, and environmental management systems. As part of its ongoing expansion, the park is investing in new materials and hydrogen utilization projects, aiming to further extend the value chain and enhance sustainability.
