The Kingsport facility is Eastman Chemical Company’s largest and most significant manufacturing complex, serving as both the company’s headquarters and its principal production site. Spanning approximately 900 acres and containing more than 550 buildings, the site supports a wide array of engineering, processing, and administrative functions.
Kingsport is a fully integrated chemical manufacturing hub that produces a broad spectrum of advanced materials, chemicals, and fibers for global markets. The facility is home to numerous large-scale operations, including the production of specialty plastics, additives, chemical intermediates, cellulose esters, and fibers. It also houses one of the world’s largest molecular recycling plants for polyester, but this is just one of many advanced manufacturing units on site.
To support its extensive industrial processes, Kingsport operates its own power generation infrastructure, including a 194.3-megawatt gas- and coal-fired power station, and a complex steam and electricity network that supplies the site’s demanding energy needs. The facility’s energy system consists of multiple boilers and turbines, providing both steam for chemical processes and electricity for plant operations.
