SK Advanced Manufacturing Site | Credit: Clariant, June 2016
The SK Advanced production site is located in Ulsan, South Korea, and operates one of the country’s largest propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plants. The facility began commercial operations in April 2016 and has a production capacity of 600,000 tons of propylene per year. The plant uses the latest Lummus technology to achieve high operational rates and efficiency.
In addition to propylene, the site produces valuable by-products such as hydrogen, high-pressure steam, and C5+ fractions. The Ulsan site benefits from proximity to SK Gas’s major LPG storage and logistics infrastructure, including the world’s largest rock tunnel-type LPG storage facility and shared docks, enabling efficient raw material handling and distribution.
The PDH plant is a cornerstone of SK Advanced’s strategy to ensure a stable supply of propylene for downstream petrochemical production and to maximize synergy with its partners and affiliates
