The refinery in Oregon, Ohio is adjacent to the City of Toledo. It has been operating since 1919 and can process up to 160,000 bbls/d, including 90,000 bbls/d of heavy oil. The refinery can produce 3.8 million gallons of gasoline, 1.3 million gallons of diesel fuel and 600,000 gallons of jet fuel daily.
History and ownership:
- The Toldeo refinery was established in 1919 by Standard Oil of Ohio.
- The refinery became part of BP (British Petroleum) through BP’s acquisition of Standard Oil of Ohio in the 1980s.
- In 2008, Husky Energy acquired a 50% stake in BP’s Toledo Refinery, forming a joint venture.
- In 2021, Cenovus Energy merged with Husky Energy, inheriting Husky’s 50% interest in the refinery.
- On February 28, 2023, Cenovus completed the acquisition of BP’s remaining 50% stake, making Cenovus the sole owner and operator of the refinery.
