Names
Alpha-Decene; Dec-1-ene; Decylene; α-Decene

1-Decene is a linear alpha olefin with the molecular formula C₁₀H₂₀. It is an unsaturated hydrocarbon featuring a ten-carbon straight chain with one double bond located at the alpha position (the first carbon atom), hence the name "1-decene" or "alpha-decene".

1-Decene is insoluble in water but exhibits good solubility in organic solvents such as chloroform and ethyl acetate. It has a mild, pleasant odor and is characterized as a stable compound under normal conditions, though it is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.

1-Decene is primarily produced through ethylene oligomerization processes using several commercial technologies.

1-Decene's most significant application is as a feedstock for polyalphaolefin (PAO) production.
