Names

Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) is a colorless, water-soluble liquid tertiary alkanolamine with the formula CH3N(C2H4OH)2 and a mild ammonia odor. It is widely used in natural gas processing and refinery operations for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) from gas streams, making it a key solvent in acid gas removal and gas sweetening applications. MDEA is also used as an intermediate in the production of surfactants, personal care products, coatings, and other industrial chemicals.
