Description

NaCl brine is water with a high-concentration of dissolved sodium chloride. In diverse contexts, brine may refer to the salt solutions ranging from about 3.5% (a typical concentration of seawater, on the lower end to that of solutions used for brining foods) up to about 26% (a typical saturated solution, depending on temperature)[1].

In the context of the chlor-alkali process, purified and saturated brine containing approximately 25 wt-% sodium chloride is used as a feedstock for the electrolytic cell[2].
