- Alt. Names
- PSA Purge Gas
- Description
-
Steam-Reforming of Natural Gas forms various Gases in addition to Hydrogen. These Gases removed by Hydrogene Purification Systems such as Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) constitutes a Purge Gas that is generally fed back to the Reformer Furnaces as Fuel Gas.
Purge Gas is also formed in the Ammonia Synthesis Process using Syngas generated by the Steam-Reforming Natural Gas Process, in which case it contains about 60% Hydrogen, 20% Nitrogen, 5% Argon, 10% Methane and 4% Ammonia in varying concentrations, depending on the process in place at the ammonia plant.
