Dr. Omer Refa Koseoglu is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Technology Innovation Farms LLC, a pioneering start-up in refining, petrochemicals, and sustainability. With over 45 years of global experience, he is recognized as one of the industry’s most prolific innovators, specializing in catalyst and process development, plastic conversion, hydrogen technologies, and AI-driven solutions. His expertise spans hydrotreating, hydrocracking, crude oil evaluation, pilot-plant design, scale-up, and software development. He previously served as Principal Scientist at Saudi Aramco R&D Center and held key roles at Shell Canada, HRI/IFP North America (Axens), and Conoco. Dr. Koseoglu holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, an M.Sc. from Brock University, and a B.Sc. from Gazi University.

Dr. Koseoglu and his team developed four commercial technologies: the COPI–Crude Oil Property Index, heavy-oil hydrocracking catalyst CAN-HC15, first-stage hydrocracking catalyst CAN-HC18, and propylene-selective FCC catalyst CAN-FCC4. CAN-HC15 has been successfully deployed in a commercial hydrocracking unit processing partially demetallized oil. He also founded the international symposium on hydrotreating and hydrocracking technologies held annually at the ACS National Meeting.

He has received major industry and academic honors, including the Brock University Brilliance Award (2025), Catalysis Society of Japan Technology Advancement Award (2024), Catalyst Manufacturers Association of Japan Technology Award (2024), Saudi Aramco Presidential Excellence Award (2016), and the JPI Best Project Award (2015).

Before founding Technology Innovation Farms, he served as Principal Scientist at Saudi Aramco and previously held technical roles at CONOCO, NUI Corporation, HRI/IFP North America, and Shell Canada, contributing to hydroprocessing, catalyst rejuvenation, tire-recycling, and technology transfer programs.

Dr. Koseoglu holds 1,335 granted patents worldwide including 398 US patents and has authored numerous publications. He is a licensed professional engineer.
