Description
PEMEX (Petróleos Mexicanos) is Mexico’s state-owned oil and gas company and one of the largest integrated energy enterprises in Latin America. Founded in 1938 following the nationalization of the country’s oil industry, PEMEX is wholly owned by the Mexican government and plays a central role in Mexico’s energy sector and economy.
PEMEX’s operations span the entire hydrocarbon value chain, including oil and gas exploration, production, refining, logistics, petrochemicals, and marketing. The company manages vast upstream resources, ranking 19th globally in proven crude oil reserves and 39th in natural gas reserves as of 2023. In 2023, PEMEX and its subsidiaries produced an average of 1.87 million barrels per day of liquid hydrocarbons and processed 778,000 barrels per day of crude oil at its domestic refineries.
