Shell Eastern Petroleum Pte Ltd, a major subsidiary of Shell plc, had a significant presence in Singapore since 1891. The company’s core operations encompassed the trading and marketing of liquefied natural gas (LNG); manufacturing, trading, marketing, and shipping of oil products and chemicals; and the development of renewable energy solutions.

Shell Eastern Petroleum’s main manufacturing assets in Singapore included the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park on Pulau Bukom and a chemical production facility on Jurong Island.

In 2024, Shell completed the sale of its Bukom refinery and associated petrochemical assets to CAPGC Pte. Ltd., a joint venture between Indonesia’s Chandra Asri and Glencore. The site is now known as the Aster Bukom Chemicals and Energy Complex and continues to operate as a fully integrated refining and chemicals manufacturing hub under new ownership.
