It is the main listed subsidiary of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. (SHCCIG) and one of the largest coal producers in China.

SHCCIG is the controlling shareholder with approximately 50.21–65.3% of shares. Shaanxi SASAC is the ultimate actual controller through SHCCIG. No other shareholder holds a significant publicly reported stake.

Shaanxi Coal Industry is principally engaged in the mining, washing, processing, transportation, and sale of coal. Its coal is characterised by low ash, low sulphur, low phosphorus, and high calorific value, making it suitable for power generation, chemical feedstock, and metallurgical applications. Key product brands include Huangling (黄灵), Huangling No.1, Yuhua (玉华), and Hongliulin (红柳林).
Coal resources are distributed across 29 mine pairs in five major mining areas in Shaanxi Province:

Relationship to SHCCIG Group
Shaanxi Coal Industry Co., Ltd. is the primary vehicle through which SHCCIG consolidates its coal mining assets and accesses public capital markets. SHCCIG retains its coal chemical, new energy, and other industrial assets either directly or through separate subsidiaries (such as Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. and Shenmu Fuyou Energy Technology Co., Ltd.) that sit alongside — not inside — Shaanxi Coal Industry Co., Ltd.
