Organizational Role and Mission

Established in 1992, Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company (BAORCO, or BORC) operates as one of nine (or ten) Iranian petroleum refining companies under National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC)'s direct management. The company was established to supply domestic oil products and serve the export market, leveraging its strategic location on the northern shores of the Persian Gulf near Bandar Abbas city.

Strategic Importance:

• Produces approximately 18% of Iran's refined petroleum products​
• Strategic location near Shahid Rajaee Port for both domestic distribution and export operations​
• One of Iran's most modern refineries with advanced technology emphasizing safety, environmental protection, and energy efficiency

Relationship to NIORDC

BAORCO functions as a wholly-owned operating subsidiary responsible for all commercial operations, maintenance, technical management, and product marketing for the Bandar Abbas refinery complex. The company reports directly to NIORDC headquarters and operates within NIORDC's broader national refining and distribution network.
