Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), established on December 22, 1998. Headquartered in Tehran, POGC was created to manage and develop Iran’s largest offshore gas resources.

Core Mandate and Operations

POGC’s principal mission is the development of Iran’s major gas fields, including:

• South Pars Gas Field (shared with Qatar’s North Dome)
• North Pars Gas Field
• Golshan Gas Field
• Ferdowsi Gas Field

Its activities encompass the full project lifecycle: reservoir evaluation, technical and economic feasibility studies, detailed engineering, procurement, construction supervision, and contractor appraisal and selection.

Key Projects and Achievements

• Brought multiple phases of the South Pars complex onshore gas refineries (Phases 9, 10, 14, etc.) online, boosting Iran’s gas sweetening, condensate recovery, and LPG production capacities.
• Spearheaded the construction of gas sweetening trains, condensate stabilization units, sulfur recovery units, and LPG fractionation facilities within South Pars Special Economic Energy Zone.
• Achieved over 70 percent domestic content in equipment and construction for Phase 14, underscoring its emphasis on local manufacturing and engineering capabilities.

Technical and Commercial Highlights

• Operates through multiple specialized subsidiaries and joint ventures for engineering, procurement, and construction management.
• Collaborates with Iranian steel, metallurgy, and petrochemical industries to integrate gas field outputs into downstream petrochemical feedstock production.
• Plays a pivotal role in Iran’s gas export strategy by connecting onshore gas refineries to the national pipeline network, facilitating both domestic supply and export sales.
