Port Hope Conversion Facility is a uranium conversion plant located in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. Operated by Cameco Corporation, it is the only uranium conversion facility in Canada and one of the few operating in the Western world, making it a strategically important link in the global nuclear fuel supply chain.
The facility converts uranium trioxide (UO₃), primarily produced at Cameco’s Blind River Refinery, into uranium dioxide (UO₂) and uranium hexafluoride (UF₆). UO₂ is used directly in the manufacture of nuclear fuel for Canadian CANDU reactors, while UF₆ is exported to international enrichment facilities as part of the nuclear fuel cycle.
