The main storage of by-products and other chemicals is:

  • Storage of C3 and C4 by-products in tertiary pressure tanks; these pressure tanks are not installed below ground level, but above ground level and are covered with a layer of soil;
  • Storage of C5+ by-products (atmospheric tank) and pyrolysis oil in two closed, atmospheric tanks (breathing and operating emissions are mitigated by vapor return lines and gas purification common to both tanks);
  • Storage of chemicals and gas cylinders for the processes, water purification, .... This concerns various, rather small tanks and chemical storage areas, which are provided at a few locations on the site.

All these storage tanks will be fitted with the soil protection measures prescribed by law (impermeable pavement, encasement, collection of potentially polluted rainwater, overfill protection).
