The CDAlky® Catalytic Alkylation Technology is an advanced low-temperature Sulfuric Acid Alkylation Process for the Production of Motor Fuel Alkylate. It reacts Light Olefin Streams from Refinery sources such as Fluid Catalytic Cracking Units or from Steam Cracking Units with Iso-Paraffins to produce Motor Fuel Alkylate. Central to the CDAlky Process is a novel Contactor/Reactor Design that significantly improves Mass Transfer relative to conventional Contactors and operates at significantly lower temperatures than conventional Alkylation Processes.[1]
Lummus Technology's CDAlky® employs a Vertical Reactor that uses a proprietary Static Mixer with Cooling performed by Mixing the Refrigerant by means of the Static Mixer. The Reaction temperature is <32°F (0°C). Acid Consumption Rate is reported to be less than 50% of Traditional Process and Olefin Space Velocity is 1.78 bbl/bbl Olefin.[2]
The Process Flow Diagram shows the basic CDAlky® Configuration to process a mixed C4 Olefin Feed and produce a bright, clear, high quality Motor Fuel Alkylate without the need for Water/Caustic Washes or Bauxite Treatment. The Process uses conventional Product Fractionation, which can consist of a single Column or two Columns.[3]
