7th Feb 2023: PetroChina again selects differentiated LyondellBasell Polyethylene (PE) technology
LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB) announced today that PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical Company will again license LyondellBasell’s polyethylene technology at their facility located in Jilin City, Jilin Province, P.R. of China. The newly licensed technology will comprise of LyondellBasell’s leading high-pressure Lupotech process technology which will be used for both a 100 kiloton per year (KTA) Autoclave and a 300 KTA Tubular line. Both production trains will produce mainly low-density polyethylene (LDPE) with ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA). Furthermore, an additional 400 KTA Hostalen “Advanced Cascade Process” (ACP) line for the production of high density polyethylene (HDPE) will be built at the same time.
“We are very satisfied with the first Hostalen unit running on our site in China and we are excited to add a new multi-modal HDPE line using the Hostalen ACP technology, stated Mr. Han Zhiqun, Chief Engineer of PetroChina Jilin. The cracker is expected to become operational in 2025. (Source)2nd Feb 2022: CNPC Jilin Petrochemical Company's 14th Five-Year Plan key project - the transformation and upgrade project officially launched today in Jilin City, Jilin Province.
The 33.9 billion yuan transformation and upgrade project of CNPC Jilin Petrochemical Company is the largest single industrial investment project in Jilin Province since the founding of New China.
The company will focus on the new stage of low-carbon and digital transformation, intelligent development, centered around refining upgrades, filling gaps in Jilin's chemical industry chain upstream development, green development, and cluster development.
After completion of the transformation and upgrade project, it will reduce oil product output by 2.63 million tons annually while increasing chemical product output by 2.8 million tons. The project will achieve international leading standards in multiple areas including energy-efficient process flows, high-efficiency catalysts (solvents), and comprehensive utilization of waste heat. The relocation and dismantling of oil supply and ethylene facilities, along with the transformation upgrade adding power and heat supply to Jilin City's Tianyuan Power Plant, will effectively reduce energy consumption.
