At our location in the Scholven district, more than 800 people work in a wide variety of systems, such as the Visbreaker furnace, the V2 system, the hydrocracker or the olefin plant. The crude oil is used in Scholven to produce petrochemical products such as ethylene or propylene, which are further processed into various products. Liquefied petroleum gas, jet fuel and diesel or heating oil are also produced in Scholven. The plant in Gelsenkirchen-Scholven is the largest of our three locations and has an area of around 250 hectares – the equivalent of around 350 football pitches.
