Liquefied Refinery Gases (LRGs) in condensate splitter processing are the pressurized overhead liquid streams containing C₂ through approximately C₈ hydrocarbons that are recovered from the condensation systems of primary fractionation and stabilization units processing plant condensate or crude oil lease condensate. These gases represent the intermediate hydrocarbon fraction that is collected as liquid under pressure during the initial separation of condensate feedstocks.
Primary Components:
- C₂-C₄ hydrocarbons comprising 60-85% of the mixture.
- C₅-C₈ components representing 15-40% of the stream, including the lightest slice of what would otherwise be FBR (Full Boiling Range) naphtha.
Distinction from Related Products
LRGs differ from other condensate processing products in several ways:
- Broader composition range than traditional LPG (which is predominantly C₃-C₄)
- Intermediate processing state requiring further fractionation before final product specifications are met
- Pressure-dependent liquid state unlike stabilized condensate which remains liquid at atmospheric conditions
