Axens is a worldwide group that provides a complete range of solutions for the conversion of oil and biomass to cleaner fuels, for the production and purification of major petrochemical intermediates as well as for gas treatment and conversion options. The offer includes technologies, equipment, furnaces, modular units, catalysts, adsorbents and related services.

Axens was formed in 2001 by the merger of legacy technology and catalyst businesses stemming from IFP Energies nouvelles and independent catalyst firms. The key predecessor entities that developed and patented core technologies now under the Axens umbrella are:

• IFP Énergies nouvelles (IFPEN) – Industrial Division
• Procatalyse
• Hydrocarbon Research Institute (HRI) acquired by Axens in 1995.
