ChemOne Group is a Singapore-based developer and owner of large-scale petrochemicals, green energy, and performance material projects across Asia. It has more than 40 years of experience in the industry and is recognized as a prominent project integrator and holding company. ChemOne has its headquarter in Singapore and also has offices and activities in Indonesia, Malaysia, and other Southeast Asian countries.

Shareholders & Ownership

  • Major Shareholder: In January 2023, ChemOne was acquired by Shrieve, a US-based chemicals and energy group. ChemOne functions as a holding company under Shrieve. Full terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
  • Equity Partners: For key projects, ChemOne partners with strategic equity investors; for instance, it and its strategic partners have a total project equity shareholding of over USD 1.15 billion in the flagship Pengerang Energy Complex (PEC).

Major Projects

1. Pengerang Energy Complex (PEC) – Johor, Malaysia

  • Type: Integrated petrochemical and energy complex.
  • Details: Will feature a 150,000 bpd condensate splitter, producing 2.3 million tonnes/yr of aromatics, 3.9 million tonnes/yr of energy products, and 50,000 tonnes/yr of hydrogen.
  • Sustainability: The PEC will have one of the lowest carbon footprints per ton of paraxylene globally, running on advanced Honeywell UOP technology.
  • Timeline: Financial closure and construction underway; full operations have shifted to 2028 due to financing complexity.
  • Shareholder Role: ChemOne is master developer and majority shareholder; partners include Maire Tecnimont (EPC contractor) and strategic equity partners.

2. Pengerang Renewables Complex (PRC) – Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) Plant

  • Type: Integrated plant to produce renewable Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, supporting sustainable transport fuels like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
  • Status: Financing progressing, separate from PEC, with start-up date likely post-2026.
  • Green Initiatives: Hydrogen produced from PEC will be reused in the HVO plant for decarbonised fuel manufacture.

3. Other Activities

  • ChemOne has operations and project developments in Thailand, Indonesia, and engages in natural resource ventures, particularly forestry and green energy project.
