History

In the period since January 15 to January 16, 2017, as part of the visit of the Head of State to the UAE, an agreement was reached at the highest level related to study the possibility of joint implementation of a project for the production of polyethylene in Kazakhstan.

On May 23, 2017, pursuant to the order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev, following an official visit to the UAE, United Chemical Company LLP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mubadalla Investment Company (UAE).

From May to September 2017, a preliminary analysis of the Project has been carried out and a preliminary feasibility study has been developed.

On March 24, 2018, a Memorandum on cooperation agreement heads as well as Joint Development Agreement have been signed between the United Chemical Company LLP and the investor.

On June 26, 2019 KLPE LLP was transferred to trust to “KazMunayGas” National Company JSC.

On March 2023 KLPE LLP was rebranded as KMG PetroChem LLP.

About the Project

The purpose of the project is creation and production of large-tonnage polyethylene with a capacity of 1.25 million tons per year, with the purpose of selling at the domestic and foreign markets. Gas from oil and gas fields is used as raw materials, which is prepared to the required volume and quality at the Gas Separation Unit.

Place of project implementation: Western Kazakhstan, Atyrau region.

Technical and economic feasibility is currently underway.
