Sweet gas is the portion of natural gas that, after processing, meets pipeline‐specification criteria by having its corrosive and toxic acid gases—chiefly hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and carbon dioxide (CO₂)—reduced to very low concentrations (typically below 4 ppm H₂S and under 2 vol % CO₂). This purification renders the gas noncorrosive, non-toxic, and free of acid-gas-related pipeline integrity and environmental concerns, making it suitable for safe transmission, domestic or industrial combustion, and downstream petrochemical use.
