Qatar Energy has announced plans to build a new world-scale urea production complex, which will more than double  Qatar’s current urea output. This ambitious project aims to enhance global food production and security by constructing three ammonia production lines to feed four new large-scale urea production trains in Mesaieed Industrial City. Once operational, these facilities will boost Qatar’s urea production from 6 million tons per year to 12.4 million tons per year, positioning Qatar as the world’s largest urea producer. The first urea train is expected to begin production by the end of this decade.

The announcement was made by Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of Qatar Energy, during a press conference at the company’s headquarters in Doha.
