Aug 23, 2011 -- KBR has been awarded a contract by LG Chem Ltd. (LG) to license KBR’s leading phenol technology for LG’s 240,000 tons per year phenol plant in Daesan, South Korea. The Daesan plant will be the second license by LG for KBR’s phenol technology. The first phenol plant in Yesou was originally licensed in 2002 for 150 KTA and later expanded to 240 KTA. The new plant in Daesan will be part of an integrated, world-scale facility from cumene to BPA production. (Source: Plastemart)

Feb 14, 2024 -- LG Chem, a prominent player in the South Korean petrochemical industry, has announced its plans to temporarily cease phenol and acetone production at its Daesan facility in South Korea. This unscheduled maintenance, set to take place from March 23 to April 5, is necessitated by a mechanical failure at the plant. With an annual capacity of 300 thousand tons of phenol and 180 thousand tons of acetone, the facility will operate at a restricted capacity of 70% during the repair period. (Source: Chemanalyst)
