GS Caltex

Highest-quality Polypropylene. GS Caltex began producing polypropylene (PP) in 1988. With steady facility expansion, we have secured capacity to produce 180,000 tons annually. (Source: GS Caltex)

In 1988, GS Caltex introduced the Unipol fluidized bed gas-phase polymerization process by Dow Chemical Company (formerly Union Carbide Corp.) to produce high-quality polypropylene under the Hi-Prene brand. GS Caltex has been able to procure all of the required propylene, the raw material for polypropylene (PP), from its RFCC process since 2001... (Source: GS Polymer)

As the company also supplies Impact PP copolymers, the use of the Unipol PP for that purpose only surprises. Either a second (smaller) gas phase reactor has been added to the Unipol plant, or the impact PP products are made via compounding.
