Dow Chemical Canada ULC

In 1992, Dow Chemical celebrated 50 years of operation in Canada. To help celebrate, it gave itself quite a birthday present -- a three-phase, $800-million hydrocarbons project for its Fort Saskatchewan, AB, facility. The three pieces of the project are:
* An ethylene plant -- starting up at 1.2 billion pounds per year (lb/y), but expandable to 1.8 billion lb/y with the addition of more furnaces ../..
The ethylene plant was done in-house by Dow at Houston, TX. (Source)

Ethylene Ops
• 1994: Ethane cracker start-up
• Late 1990s: expanded
• Receives ethane from Fractionator, to produce ethylene
Furnace debottleneck project
• Light Hydrocarbons cracker expansion
• 12th furnace and associated equipment
• Increases ethylene production
• Unlocks underutilized polyethylene capacity (Source)

...increase in ethylene production from 979 kilotonnes to 1304 kilotonnes per year../.. The proposed expansion would be achieved within the existing plant area and would include five cracking furnaces (in addition to the existing six furnaces). (Source)

Known as the FS1 project, the expansion will involve increasing capacity of the ethylene plant by about 130,000 tonnes/year with the addition of another furnace... Scheduled for startup during first-half 2021... (Source)
